Fried onions and the Blues

Smells enter this flat from all sides and beneath. Sometimes the wind carries it, but mostly it is either through walls or floorboards. I woke to the stink of fried onions. Mostly, I quite like the aroma but not then or in here. It has passed, or maybe I have just attuned to it.

I was blue yesterday. No, depressed. That’s better, more appropriate. And it coloured everything that I did and thought. My body still aches this morning but my mind is less bleak, or at least, so far it is less so. I just need to get through the day, do my work, care for P. and then I can return to my bed, hopefully warmer than I was last night.
